Envelopes & sizes

What is Envelopery?

Envelopery lets you create custom-size envelopes in a choice of shapes, specialty papers and colours. Download a free template to make envelopes yourself, or order envelopes made to your specifications.

How are your envelopes made?

We generate a cutting and creasing template for your chosen shape and dimensions, then cut, crease and fold the paper. We use digital cutting or die-cutting as appropriate for the order. Styles with bonded construction seams are glued; locking and wrap styles use their own folds and closures.

What size should I choose for my invitation?

For a typical flat invitation, add 5 mm to both its width and height. A 150 × 100 mm invitation would usually fit a 155 × 105 mm envelope. Thick invitations, multiple inserts and heavier papers may need more room. The dimensions you enter are the finished envelope size, not the unfolded sheet size.

Do envelopes arrive folded and glued?

All envelopes arrive folded. Conventional envelopes have glued construction seams; styles designed to lock or wrap without glue retain their own construction. There is no adhesive on the closing flap, so sealing the envelope is up to you.

Can you make a shape that isn’t in the collection?

Send us your idea for an envelope, sleeve or folder, with dimensions and reference images if you have them. We’ll review what is possible. Request a custom design.

Free templates

Are template downloads free?

Yes. PDF, SVG and DXF templates are free to download, with no account or purchase required. Downloading a file does not place an order for physical envelopes.

Which file format should I use?

PDF provides a full-size cutting template. Print at actual size (100%) on a sheet large enough for the complete page. SVG and DXF provide editable cutting and creasing paths for compatible software and equipment. Check dimensions after importing a file and test the fit before production.

Can I use the templates commercially?

Yes. You can use the templates to make envelopes for yourself or for sale. You are responsible for checking dimensions, printing scale, fit and suitability for your paper and equipment. Always make a test envelope before producing a batch. Envelopery does not guarantee fit or manufacturing results from downloaded templates.

Paper & finishing

Why have you chosen these papers?

We chose these paper families for their wide range of colours, giving you plenty of choice for your envelope. Explore their different textures and finishes in the paper collection.

Are all papers and colours kept in stock?

We keep some papers in-house and source others from suppliers for each order. Stock varies, so a colour in the collection is not a guarantee that it is currently stocked in our workshop.

What happens if my chosen paper or colour is unavailable?

We’ll contact you with possible alternatives or offer a refund. We won’t substitute a different paper or colour without your agreement.

Will the paper match the colour on my screen?

Digital previews help you explore the collection, but colour and finish can look different depending on your screen and lighting. We do not offer physical samples or paper swatches.

Can I add printing, hot foiling or other finishing?

Contact us with your requirements for a special quote. We’ll review your request and get back to you with the available options and pricing.

Orders & delivery

Is there a minimum order quantity?

The applicable minimum is shown when you choose your paper and quantity. Check the quantity field for your selected envelope before ordering.

How long does production take?

Production normally takes 5–7 working days from the payment day when the paper is available in-house or from our supplier. Shipping time is additional. If your paper is unavailable, we’ll contact you about the options.

Can I request faster production?

Yes. Contact us before ordering with your required date. We’ll confirm the best timing we can offer for your order.

Where do you deliver, and what does shipping cost?

Available destinations, shipping methods and charges are shown at checkout before payment. See our delivery information for more details.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Contact us promptly if you need to change your order. Before envelope production starts, you can cancel with a refund less the cost of any work already completed, such as a cutting die made for your order. If no work has been done, we issue a full refund. Once envelope production starts, cancellation is unavailable. See our returns and cancellations policy.

What if my order arrives damaged or incorrect?

Contact us with your order number and details of the problem. Photos of the goods and packaging can help us investigate. The cancellation policy does not affect your rights for faulty, damaged or incorrect goods.
